Today I’m doing something a little different yet hopefully not too unexpected. Can you tell I’ve been trying really hard to incorporate other types of content? You all have been providing feedback and I’ve been listening! Anyway today I’m sharing my favorite lip colors for spring.
Putting this post together was both fun and a little difficult and definitely out of my comfort zone. Outfit posts are easy for me. Like I’ve mentioned before, it’s like I’ve got that process down to a science and I can do it without thinking much. But I promised myself that 2016 would be different!
As I’ve been brainstorming different ways I could add value to your life, I realized that I should share more things other than just outfits. And plus, sometimes it’s fun to switch things up a bit. I still don’t know why creating this type of content takes me SO MUCH longer, but I’m committed to delivering regardless 🙂 because I want to be more than just a mannequin to y’all!
So here we go, I did my best to take selfies of myself (yes, I used a self timer…) to show you my current favorite spring lip colors.
As always, it would be a HUGE encouragement to hear from you – any kind of feedback whether good or bad is helpful! I always love seeing you all commenting and it makes my job way more fun too! Thanks for taking the time to stop by BTD and if you’ve got a minute, say hello and let me know which color you like best and/or if you’re hoping to try one of these!
First I want to share my newest acquisition with you all, which is this Mac Cosmetics ‘Mineralize’ glass lipgloss in ‘Tender’ and Lip Liner in “Snob”. I’ll admit, the jury is still out on this one, but so far I’ve really enjoyed the glossy look of it (compared to the rest of the colors you’ll see below that are more shiny rather than glossy).
I put the lip liner all over my lip to create a matte base color because the gloss is pretty sheer and doesn’t have as much pigment as I would like. Then, I put a coat or two of the gloss on top. The combo creates a natural look that I think looks really good without makeup or when you don’t want to wear as much and have more of a natural look.
It also looks pretty without the coat of liner underneath – it just has a much more translucent look to it. The gloss itself is pretty “milky” and very light pink but I like how it doesn’t have ANY shimmer to it, which is unique to most light pink glosses.
Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Volupté Shine’ Lipstick No. 19 ‘Fuchsia in Rage’ – If you’ve been following for a while, then you probably recognize this color. I feel like it’s one of my go-to colors that I’ll always have in my lip color arsenal.
It’s one of those shades that makes just enough of a statement, yet it’s still classy enough to wear during the day. I don’t know if that makes sense? But somehow wearing purple just WORKS and I’ve been a fan for a about 2 years now? Anyway, I think this is DEFINITELY a color that you should try if you haven’t already. It looks different on everyone, but if you usually wear blue-ish tones for lip colors, then I think you would really like this one.
Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Pur Couture – Vernis a Levres’ Glossy Stain No. 15 – If you’ve been following awhile then you’ve FOR SURE heard of this or seen me wearing it because it’s definitely my go-to color above ALL else.
As you can see in the close up above, It’s just the right amount of pigment to where it’s perfectly suitable for day or night time wear. I’ll usually apply another coat if I’m wearing it at night – but ether way it looks great. In the photo above, I’m wearing 2 coats of the glossy stain.
Whatever the case, if you haven’t gotten the point by now, you need this lip stain. I promise it will look good on you. It’s just one of those colors that every girl should own – trust me.
PS: ummm my chest is nasty – sorry about that. It’s because I got a sunburn and my skin is peeling. I guess I could photoshop it, but who has time for that anyway? So I’m just going to be real with y’all and tell you how it is.
Next I want to share a nude lip color – Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Pur Couture’ Lip Color No. 11 in ‘Rose Carnation‘. I’m obsessed with the way this nude color looks on. It was really hard to photograph, but hopefully you can get a decent idea of how pretty this color is. I guess it’s not really a “spring” color so-to-say, but it’s more of a PERFECT everyday-all-day color that I didn’t want to leave out of this round up.
Here’s a closer look at the color above. Isn’t it just STUNNING?! It’s a relatively new color to me, so I wanted to be sure and share it with you all! So ahhhh-mazing, right?! It’s the perfect amount of color to where it gives you a little touch of life, but you could pass as not wearing any lipstick/makeup.
Oh, and it’s got plenty of moisture too. But I should mention that the “Rouge Pur Couture’ formula does not have as much moisture or shine as the Volupté Shine YSL formula, which is the formula of the purple color I featured above (note the different tubes/packaging).
It has taken me years to find a good nude because most of them me look dead (ha! aka wash me out), but I think this one finally takes the cake!
Next, we have Estee Lauder’s ‘Pure Color Envy’ Liquid Lip Potion No. 240 in ‘Naughty Naive’ which is this orange color above. I really like the color of this stain, but I will say that I have to put on at least 2 or 3 coats for it to look even and show up the way it should.
I think I need to get a lip pencil for this color to really look it’s best but this is what it looks like just on my bare lips. Even still, it’s really pretty don’t you think?!
Lastly, I want to share Too Faced ‘Melted’ Collection Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Fuchsia with y’all. I love how matte this lipstick is.
Unlike most lipsticks and glosses, this one comes in a squeeze tube and really does go on your lips differently than any other lip color I’ve tried on. I love the consistency of it and how pigmented the color is.
I’ve been waring this A LOT on the weekends to go out with friends or for engagement parties and I’ve gotten several compliments. It’s my favorite hot pink I’ve tried so far!
So there you have it – my top 6 favorite spring lip colors I’m currently excited about! Let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions or suggestions!
