The Western Edit: How I’m Styling the Trend

I’ve been a little obsessed with western details lately—and not in a “head-to-toe fringe and a cowboy hat” kind of way. More like the kind that sneaks into your wardrobe quietly and suddenly makes everything feel a little cooler. A concho belt here. A turquoise necklace there. Black boots that go with everything.

This outfit is the one I keep reaching for, and I’ve gotten more questions about it than almost anything I’ve worn recently — so let’s break it down.

The Dress

It starts with the Gia Chiffon Hem Dress, and honestly, it does most of the heavy lifting. The contrast of the fitted black top and the flowy cream hem is such a good combination—it’s elevated enough for dinner but easy enough that I’m not thinking about it all night. I sized down one and loved how it fit.

The Belt

This is the piece everyone asks about, and the one that takes the whole look from “cute dress” to “actual outfit.” I have two versions of the concho belt and wear both constantly. This Rectangular Concho Chain Belt is most similar to the one I’m wearing here, and the Streets Ahead Denver Concho Belt is a slightly more subtle version if you want to ease into the trend.

Western belts have a way of making you feel intentional about what you’re wearing, even when you’re not. That’s the whole vibe.

The Turquoise

Turquoise is having a major moment, and I am fully here for it. I layered the Joan Semi-Precious Turquoise Necklace over the neckline of this dress and it was the exact right finishing touch—a little unexpected, a little statement-making. The BaubleBar Mildred Necklace is a more affordable version that photographs just as beautifully.

The Boots

Black western boots are one of those things I resisted for years and now can’t imagine my wardrobe without. The Annie boots are the ones I keep wearing — they have just enough heel to feel dressed up but I’ve worn them for full days on my feet without complaining. That’s the real review.

How to Style It Your Way

The thing I love about this look is how modular it is. You don’t have to wear all of it at once:

  • Dress it down: Swap the boots for flat sandals and skip the belt. The dress alone is effortless.
  • Add just one western element: A concho belt over a white tee and jeans is genuinely one of my favorite outfits right now.
  • Lean into the turquoise: If you’re not ready for a statement necklace, the Marcella Bracelet stacked with silver gives you that pop of color without the commitment.

The western trend is one of those rare ones that actually works across body types, ages, and aesthetics. It’s not a costume—it’s just really good styling. And if this outfit is any proof, a concho belt really can change your life. Click here to shop the full look.
