San Montano Resort & Spa Review // Ischia, Italy

Of all the places I visited during my most recent trip to Italy, Ischia is the spot that truly left me craving for more time. The island and all it’s wonderfulness was such a pleasant surprise and breath of fresh air.

To be completely honest, I hadn’t even heard of Ischia before this trip. While planning and figuring out logistics of the trip, my room mate (who I met up with for a little bit) suggested we visit the island. Her sister studied abroad and had always wanted to visit after hearing all the Europeans talk about it. I think the coolest part is that it’s not as overly crowded or touristy as Capri or Positano.

After a little research with my girlfriends, digging into the best (and worst) places to stay on the island, we discovered San Montano Resort & Spa and decided we HAD to stay there! And were NOT disappointed! I’m dedicating this post to telling you a little bit more about my stay and experience at the hotel.

Ischia is known for its spas and mineral water pools and springs. So as you can image, it’s the PERFECT place to relax and recharge. I will for sure pay this island another visit, but for now I’m excited to share a few snaps from the resort we stayed at while in Ischia.

At San Montano Resort, there are 2 main outdoor pools and then several different other options for heated and thermal pools. There is also access to a private beach should you wish to venture to the shore.

We were only there for 2 nights, but it was beyond amazing. We spent the first night at the resort, sharing a bottle of wine in the hot tub watching the sunset. I think this was one of my favorite memories from the entire trip. Can you imagine?! Sipping on wine, while relaxing in the hot tub and watching the BEAUTIFUL sunset…amazing.

The second night we went to dinner in town at a super YUMMY place called La Sirenella, which is at the base of the hill where the resort is located. The food was great (duh), but I think my favorite part was the people. We ended up meeting and visiting with the owners and it was an absolute blast – they were hilarious!

We couldn’t get over how many little nooks and cute areas there were to relax – so many options for sitting 🙂 It made us want to try them all out (so we did! hehe)

and this is the room where where you eat breakfast! Isn’t that view amazing?! We couldn’t get enough!

All in all, my stay at San Montano resort was lovely and relaxing but way too short! So if you visit, I would suggest staying for at least 3 nights since it takes a bit to get settled. It would be really nice to have two full days so you could enjoy all the amenities that the resort has to offer!
