September Part 2

Good morning friends! Have I mentioned that I absolutely LOVE Snapchat? Sometimes I get a little distracted and forget to post on it, but when I do (and specifically when I’m able to interact with YOU), I’m continually reminded how much I love it. I feel like it’s the only place where I feel as if I can TRULY connect with you – albeit still in a digital way. There’s just something about it that feels more personal and engaging. Hopefully, most of you all are following me on Snap and if not, I’d love for you to join in! I’m always asking for suggestions on content and I love letting y’all play a roll in where BTD is going and the content I’m working on.

I love hearing from you all and to be honest, sometimes I get really nervous that I’m “talking” too much or that I’m not being interesting enough, so feedback is key! Also, if you see something I post and want to see more of it, let me know too because I’m really just wingin’ it over here!

What We’re Working On at BTD

Okay so let’s talk about blog content. I’ve got my hands in about 27 buckets and am simultaneously working on lots of projects, but I sort of like it that way honestly. It keeps things exciting, right?! Let’s touch base on a few topics I’ve been working on, what’s coming up this week, and other content articles I want to give y’all status updates on:

  • Seattle City Guide – This is way overdue (sorry friends!) but I’ve got time slated today to work on finishing this baby up. I think I’m just putting too much pressure on myself and just need to write down what I actually did rather than spending time doing research to make the BEST city guide ever. Because I really only spent 1 full day in the city, so I wasn’t able to get that much done anyway. That should be live tomorrow (fingers crossed!)
  • Best of the Best Dry Shampoo’s – Last Tuesday, I snapped about a little experiment I’ve been working on behind the scenes. After my blog post about how to get more volume in your hair, I got a lot of questions about Tip No. 5 (dry shampoo), so I decided to dedicate an entire blog post solely to dry shampoo – how I use it, which ones I like, which ones I’ve tried, how it works, etc. The post will go live THIS Wednesday.
  • What to wear to an interview post – I brought this up on Snapchat yesterday and asked for your help. When I originally decided to answer this question for y’all (after getting several suggestions), I didn’t realize what I was getting into (ha!). But regardless, I’m stoked about this post – it’ll just take some time and effort to do it well 🙂
    • After a little research and a few attempts to write the post, it was obvious that there’s not enough information out there about how to navigate what to wear to an interview. The quality content I was able to find was pretty outdated to say the least – I think this is because the workplace standards and dynamics have shifted SO MUCH in the last 6-10 years
    • As I’m sure you know, figuring out what to wear to an interview depends on a number of variables. And although there are a few articles that slightly cover the topic, there’s not ONE article that really provides a TON of value (at least not from my POV when I try and put myself in your shoes). As such,  I’ve committed to creating a really thorough article that takes into consideration SEVERAL different variables, industries, etc.
    • On snap, I asked you to send me what kind of job you currently have or what industry you’re in so I could start making a list of different types of jobs and industries in an effort to segment them all into groups. And then from there, I’ll work on figuring out what the industry standards and unwritten expectations are within each. So far here’s what I’ve got (thanks to y’all!)

Upcoming Posts

  • Office Reveal – I’m not at all ready for this (oops!), but somehow I’m going to figure it out because I have this blog post slated to go live Friday! Follow along on snap to see how we figure out how to make this work lol
  • Skincare Tips – coming soon!
  • Another podcast post – coming soon! If you read my Top 5 Christian Podcasts, then you might remember me saying that it was going to become a new mini series on the blog? Well, I’m hoping to get my first dedicated post (aka going more in depth into one podcast I recommend listening to) written this week or next. The first podcast I’m focusing on is one by John Piper 🙂
  • Sunless Tanning slash Self-Tanner Post – coming soon

Posts you might have missed

Okay now for the round-up! Here’s what I’ve been up to recently and wearing the past week or so. But first, I wanted to start with a few pieces that have recently been marked down!

Olivia Pope inspired wrap coat, off-white winter coat, large lapel wrap coat, cute winter coat

An oldie, but SUCH a goodie! I just saw that my fave off-white wrap coat (sale!)  was marked down AND STILL available in all sizes! I call it my “Olivia” coat because it reminds me of Olivia Pope from Scandal! And while I’m sharing this outfit, I wanted to go ahead and link my FAVE PAIR of faux leather leggings because they’re BACK in stock and they’re only $30! AHHH.

Printed Free People dress, Tall brown boots, Small Gucci crossbody bag

I mean, how cute is this dress? I really really really love it and think it’s adorable with tall boots but is also so cute with booties like I wore in this mirror selfie I posted before my NYC trip.

This outfit is from over a year ago but I still love it so much. I found a similar grey sweater (already selling out!) and I wanted to let y’all know because I wear this thing like nobody’s business! It’s SUCH a great staple to have 🙂 Also, my pumps are dee keller but they’re from like 6 seasons ago – she has new color in the same pumps this season!

Somehow I managed to get BBG week 8 done while in NYC last weekend. The only issue is that it stopped there. Like, I got home to Dallas and skipped the next 7 days of working out (oops!) so the plan is to be much better this week. I did it this morning but it was sort of a joke – like, I could barely do a push up and felt like a slug the entire time!
