Lululemon Align vs. the Viral Amazon Leggings

I have had a love affair with the lulu Align leggings for as long as I remember. And, while I still hold a spot for them in my heart, I’ve found a new pair of viral Amazon leggings that have taken over my wardrobe—the CRZ YOGA’s Butterluxe Leggings.

There’s a reason the Lululemon Align Leggings basically have a cult following— they’re ultra-lightweight and have a buttery-soft feel that makes you forget you’re even wearing pants.

The CRZ YOGA’s Butterluxe Leggings are an affordable Align alternative. And, while I love that they deliver a similar feel at a fraction of the price, I thought it’d be worth a blog post to discuss the biggest differences.

So, are they actually a dupe, or just another lookalike? Let’s break down the Lululemon Align Leggings vs. the Viral Amazon Leggings.

Lululemon Align Leggings

Fabric & feel

Lululemon Align: Made with Nulu fabric, the Align leggings are famous for their insanely soft, weightless feel. The material is brushed, ultra-stretchy, and designed for low-impact activities like yoga, lounging, or running errands. They also have a barely-there quality that’s hard to beat.

CRZ YOGA Butterluxe: The Butterluxe leggings are made with a blend designed to mimic that soft, brushed finish of Aligns. And I have to admit that they’re really close. The Butterluxe fabric has that same “buttery” feeling with slightly more compression IMO, making them a good option if you like Aligns but wish they had just a tiny bit more hold.

Verdict: Both feel heavenly, but if you love the super-light, barely-there feel, Aligns take the win. If you prefer a bit more support without sacrificing softness, Butterluxe is a solid alternative.

Fit & compression

Lululemon Align: Known for their high waist, seamless waistband, and ultra-stretchy fabric, Align leggings conform to your body like a second skin. The only downside is that they’re not the most compressive, so if you prefer a little more hold, they might feel too relaxed.

CRZ YOGA Butterluxe: Also high-waisted with a seamless waistband, these leggings fit super similarly to Aligns. But the difference is that they offer more gentle compression. It’s not a true compression legging, but it does have a bit more structure, which some people actually prefer—especially if they want to feel a little more “held in.”

Verdict: If you want zero compression, Aligns are for you. If you want a tiny bit more support while keeping that buttery softness, Butterluxe wins.

Stretch & movement

Lululemon Align: These leggings are designed for yoga and lounging, so they’re made with a four-way stretch so they can move with you effortlessly.

CRZ YOGA Butterluxe: Also four-way stretch, these leggings move just as well as Aligns if you ask me—the only difference is that they might feel slightly more structured when moving because they have a touch more compression.

Verdict: Both are ultra-stretchy, but if you want the absolute lightest feel, Aligns take the lead. If you like just a bit more structure in your stretch, Butterluxe does the job.

Durability & pilling

Lululemon Align: Okay, here’s the Align Achilles’ heel—they’re not the most durable. The soft, brushed fabric pills over time, especially if you wear them a lot or for higher-impact workouts. You can extend their life by washing them carefully (cold water, delicate cycle, no fabric softener), but it’s something to be aware of.

CRZ YOGA Butterluxe: Since the fabric blend is slightly different, Butterluxe leggings tend to hold up better over time. They’re still buttery-soft, but because they have a tiny bit more structure, they seem to resist pilling a bit better than Aligns.

Verdict: If longevity is a big concern, Butterluxe might win here (even at a lower price point). Aligns feel amazing but require extra care to maintain that softness.

Price comparison

Lululemon Align: $98+
CRZ YOGA Butterluxe: $30-40

This one is pretty straightforward. If price is a major factor, CRZ YOGA Butterluxe offers serious value. You could buy two or three pairs for the cost of one pair of Aligns.

Verdict: If budget is no issue, Aligns are a luxury purchase for sure. But if you want a great alternative without breaking the bank, Butterluxe is a very solid choice.
