Excellence Is a Habit

Depending on which day you ask me, I might have a different “meaning” or understanding of what this little quote means…or how it applies to my life. On one hand, I could associate this quote with character. And as such, it might mean that consistency and reliability trump grandiose and/or intenseness. In other words, one could argue that it is more important for us to be inherently good, rather than merely doing “good things” sometimes.  And for example, I could go further in saying that maybe it’s better to be kind and considerate on a daily basis, than to occasionally volunteer or giveback in some grand way.

On the other hand, I could associate this quote with the importance of habit. Practice makes perfect – right?! And sometimes doing something is better than doing nothing. Yesterday I went on a 15 minute walk. I’m sure it didn’t really do much for me, but (for me at least) it’s more about living a healthy and balanced life than it is about getting an intense workout in.

I could go on and on, but I’ll spare you on this one and let you use your own imagination. What does this quote mean to YOU, today?
