Hi y’all! If it’s OK with you, I’m going to keep sharing fashion content – whether from New York Fashion Week or what I’ve shot in Dallas. I’m feeling re-inspired after New York and am super excited about everything we’re seeing this fall. So, I’m just in a fashion state of mind slash am freaking EXCITED about what we’re seeing this fall? Hopefully other people love fall fashion as much as I do, and are interested to see how I’m styling this season’s trends.

You might remember from this post where I highlighted some of the trends that I’m especially pumped about. On there, I wrote about the Victorian Trend, which I GET is a little intimidating slash grandma-ish if you’re not careful, right? But the thing is, I think it’s a fun, pretty trend. It’s kinda a refresh on the turtleneck and necks in general, and I think it can look interesting and chic when done right. So let’s get to how to do it right. A few things:

Pair carefully – Since the top is so conservative in a way, I think it’s fun to mix things up on bottom. A midi skirt or trousers would be too stuffy for me personally, but I thought the leather pencil skirt complemented it while mixing things up. Even leather pants, a suede mini, or on-trend mom jeans (with the top tucked in) would look on trend as well.

Show skin – Similar to above, you don’t want to be fully buttoned up – well at least I didn’t with this outfit. Whether you’re showing your ankles off, or something more like legs in a mini, make things less conservative with a little skin in a classy way.

Wear hair up – Since the detail of the collar is so unique, I like wearing my hair up to show it off. I first wore this milkmaid braid hairstyle in NYFW and now I’m kinda obsessed. A top knot would be cute too, but I really liked how this looked. Do y’all like?? Should I do a tutorial? Gold chunky statement earrings are really in if you haven’t noticed, and they look perfect with this mix.

Start minimal – If you’re new to the Victorian collar game or aren’t totally sure about it, start small. Some of the collars get a little crazy (like HUGE), but there are minimal styles, like what I have on. I like that this blouse has slight detail around the neck and elevated shoulders, but it’s not too overpowering. Dip your toes into the trend if you will.

Are y’all into this look when it’s toned down and mixed with something less traditional? Let me know!
