Integrity Quote

My favorite? The last one….we should all strive to do the right thing when no one in looking. I think having integrity and a well-equipped moral compass is one of the most important characteristics/traits a person can possess. But it seems that, more often than not, our society condones and even sometimes encourages quite the contrary. Don’t you think? Rather than trying to push the limits to determine what we can “get away with”, we should all strive to hold ourselves accountable. Because developing this quality will be sure to serve us in the long run (and keep us out of trouble!)

After all, all “big” frauds/lies and lies start out small and relatively insignificant. But eventually, through a process of self justification and a just-a-little-more/one-last-time way of thinking, those little “insignificant” dishonesties can turn into something more dangerous, ugly, or harmful than we could have ever imagined.  This quote resonates most to me in two domains of life: my career and my relationships. That being said, this quote usually brings to mind the major financial scandals this country has witnessed and how those people lost sight of their sense of integrity and “doing the right thing when no one was looking.” And on a more personal note, I think this quote can relate to trust in a relationship in that even the smallest acts (that seem harmless) can be disrespectful or hurtful.

Which is your favorite? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
