Hey y’all! I’m currently in Rosemary Beach, FL with my fam, so this post seemed fitting – been wanting to write it for a while. I wanted to share my tips and products for pulling off a beach makeup look – without trying to hard or spending an hour on your face.

In general, when it comes to wearing makeup at the beach, less is always, always more. There’s nothing worse than feeling like or seeing a full face at the beach, especially when it’s really hot out. A lot of my everyday products are too heavy for the beach, so I definitely apply differently when I’m heading to the there (or even pool). Remember, the whole point of wearing makeup at the beach is to look effortless but still pretty and not caked down, ya know? If you aren’t sure where to start or which products to use, don’t worry – I’ve got y’all covered!

Face

Instead of applying a full coverage foundation or powder, opt for something lighter like Tarte’s BB cream or Laura Mercier’s Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20. The tinted moisturizer is the lighter coverage option, while the BB cream will give you more coverage and cover up redness (a constant nag for me). Not only will BB cream cover all of your imperfections, it also includes built-in moisturizer and SPF, so you can spend less time getting ready and more time tanning! I love a good multi-tasker, y’all.

Cheeks

I recommend a cream blush vs. powder for the beach, which will blend much better and give you an effortless look instead of the blush being obvious on your skin. It’s important to find something that’s not too heavy, as you don’t want your face to feel greasy. I’m obsessed with Make Up For Ever’s HD Blush (and this color is so pretty) because it applies like a powder but gives you the natural look of a cream blush, all while being super light weight. Winnnning!

Eyes

If you’re going for an effortless beach look, you’ll want to skip the eyeliner and shadow altogether. Waterproof mascara, on the other hand, is totes fair game. Wearing mascara shows that you put some effort into looking your best, but not too too much, which is exactly the look you’re going for at the beach. Plus, I just feel really naked without it, but maybe that’s just me. Buxom Lash Waterproof Mascara and Dior Diorshow Waterproof Mascara are two of my all-time favs.

Brows

If you’re one of the lucky few that has perfect eyebrows naturally (#rude), you can probably skip filling in your brows. If you’re used to filling in your brows on the reg, you can definitely do it and still pull off a beachy look. Just be sure to use a waterproof formula like Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Pencil, and to use soft strokes, avoiding any harsh pencil lines. Opposite of what you want, beach or no beach.

Lips

Tinted lip balm with SPF will not only protect your lips from the sun, it’ll also add to your sun-kissed look, so yay! Don’t forget the SPF – I’ve definitely learned this the hard way. Try a lip treatment with tint and SPF – trust me, your lips will thank you for all that extra moisture on a hot summer day. And a bright color with a tan always looks cute. Lately, I’ve been really into Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15 in the rose and coral tints. They are so fun.

Pretty easy right? It’s what I’m wearing all week and so far, so good!
