NOLA move: Under Construction

Remember how I discussed painting my room? Well, I went ahead and did it last weekend. I was going to post about it earlier, but as you probably know, I’ve been galavanting across Texas (and Missouri AND Illinois) doing a little PR for the Dee Keller Design brand. So, my post schedule got a little off track.

Here a few “behind the scenes” shots of my room before we started painting – what a mess! I had to squeeze everything into the center of my room and then the overflow into the little sun room….

I know I had mentioned that I wanted to do a white color, but after talking to a close friend, I changed my mind because I was nervous about it being too stark? Not that that’s a bad thing….BUT everything else in my room is white, so I guess I needed to start adding some variety. I chose a gray color in a rush (because I was just ready to be able to hang things on my wall) and it ended up turning out differently than I had hoped. It actually turned out gray with a tint of lavender? My bad. I should work on getting some patience. Note to self: don’t make big decisions, like picking out a paint color, in a hurry! (that should go without saying? oh well, lesson learned!) At the end of the day, it’s pretty soothing and I don’t hate it…it’s much better than the greenish color that it was.

Initially, my plan was to paint the walls all by myself. I figured, how difficult could painting four walls be? Well, let’s just say….it’s harder than it seems! I ended up having to recruit a little help (thanks Melissa!)…but still, it was fun and I was able to help a little bit. So, meet my friends! With their help, the entire process was over and done within one hour! (and done correctly, I must add!)

My next mission? Creating and hanging the imaginary gallery wall I’ve somewhat envisioned in my head over the past few months. I have absolutely NO idea how to do one, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to throw something interesting together.
