Expectations

I hope you all have had a great start to your week! I spent the entire day yesterday studying and will do the same for today. I have my commercial law exam tonight – wish me luck! 🙂

I made the typography today. This quote by Shakespeare is one of my absolute favorites because it is SO true. Being aware of (and having a good handle on) our expectations of this world and the people around us is a crucial life skill that I strive to achieve every day. It is easy to sometimes lose perspective and expect too much from people – your friends, siblings, parents, etc. And when this happens, it won’t be long before we are hit in the face with the repercussions of these expectations: disappointment, frustration, selfishness, and many other yucky things. I think this skill is especially important to actively and consciously work on during the transition from high school to college to adult life. Most of us go from having our parents book our flights, schedule our doctors appointments, and pay our bills to being on our own in pretty much every way possible.  I can’t speak for everyone, but I think it is safe to say that everyone goes through this phase of growing up at some point in their lives. In my experience, I often have to remind myself that the world does not revolve around me (ha!) and that my siblings/parents are not my servants (for lack of a better word!). Is anyone with me here? eek! I feel a little strange sharing this, but hopefully I’m not alone.
