In my opinion and experience, being a joyful person is a decision. I think you have to make a conscious effort to remember what you have, be appreciative and grateful for everything, and try to always look on the bright side. It is our decision whether or not we let that little annoyance ruin our morning/day. It helps to look at the big picture and realize that most of these things just aren’t that big of a deal. and once we decide to practice and live a life with this perspective, it starts to stick and become habit rather than effort. Don’t you think?
Joyful people are a pleasure to be around and their smile is usually contagious. Rather than waiting for good or exciting things to happen, we should wake up each morning with a joyful heart and an optimistic mind. Because negative energy is extremely powerful and spreads fast; it sometimes only takes a seed of doubt to crush hope or a dream. Like it says in Proverbs 15:13, “A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.” So we must try our best to stay positive, smile as often as possible, and maintain a joyful spirit. Don’t let that little mishap ruin your day (and lead to a when-it-rains-it-pours pity party), but instead, go out and live your life in a lively manner with a smile on your face.
Too philosophical for you? haha I just kind of got on a roll with this one! I hope some of you find it encouraging or inspiring. If you don’t, that’s fine too. I didn’t really think much before I typed this….I just went with my stream of consciousness.
