I don’t consider myself a master baker by any stretch of the imagination, but I do especially love baking this time of year. It brings back so many memories of making cookies with family when I was younger, and now I’m excited to create those same memories with Four and Duncan.
My strategy when I am looking for tasty things to bake is simple: It has to be easy and it has to be good. I cannot wait to start baking some of these goodies now that we’re officially into November and, in my opinion, holidays are fair game!
If you’re planning to create some of your own baked goods, I’ve pulled some items below that may help make the process a little smoother. Some of these I own and others are just on my wish list!
ITEMS FOR THE BAKER
Bourbon Pecan Pie
I’m still undecided on what to make for my Thanksgiving dinner dessert and for some reason, I just keep coming back to pecan pie. It’s probably the most classic Thanksgiving dessert after pumpkin pie and everyone in my family loves it. I’m a little nervous about making pie crust but this Bourbon Pecan Pie recipe actually looks doable and how good does that finished pie look!?
Decorated Sugar Cookies
I kind of feel like it’s not Christmas unless you decorate sugar cookies. By no means do I expect mine to turn out like the cookies in the image here but it’s fun to get creative and come up with fun holiday-related shapes to decorate. This 30-piece decorating kit is already in my cart — I think it’ll make decorating so much easier.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Okay call me boring but is there anything better than a GOOD chocolate chip cookie!? I mean I think Santa would agree. 😉 When I was growing up, we always had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies around the house during the holidays and it just feels like Christmas and chocolate chip cookies go hand-in-hand. These are deemed “the best chocolate chip cookies” so I can’t wait to test this recipe out and see for myself.
Gingerbread Cupcakes
These look a little fancy in the picture but the recipe actually feels super doable. I enjoy gingerbread flavor anything and there’s really no better time to have it than during the holidays. This would be a *great* thing to bake for a party or even to bring to a friend as a gift or just a special treat. I can’t get over how cute these tiny gingerbread men cookie are!
Chocolate Peppermint Olive Oil Cookies
Is anyone else a total sucker for chocolate peppermint this time of year? I remember in high school, I’d always order a peppermint hot chocolate from Starbucks when it was cold outside, so now this flavor combo brings back all the nostalgia. I’m very interested in the olive oil part of this recipe, but according to the blog post, “they’re fudgy, chocolatey, and seriously moist” so I’m here to give them a shot!
Hopefully, this post gave you some holiday baking inspo. I’m always looking for new things to bake during the holidays, so please share some things you love to bake in the comments!
