If you follow a single blogger on Instagram, you’ve likely seen the plaid blazer that is EVERYWHERE, right? I swear, when I scroll down, I see at least one person wearing it every single time – which means one thing, people are loving it. Including me! If you follow me on instagram stories, then you might remember be attempting to style one I bought (last minute) before packing for NYFW and making a reference to ‘Marcia Clark’. Please tell me you saw that? My room mate, Katie was helping me pack and put together looks. I was dead set on putting an outfit together with a plaid blazer after seeing a killer look in Vogue magazine that got me all inspired. But I think I just had the wrong kind of blazer, but I just looked like I was going to testify or prosecute someone in court! haha good times. But I think this one was much easier to style and it was a little more loose-fitting, which is actually more in line with what’s trending right now.
It’s a fine line between grandpa or old man style, but honestly, that’s kinda the look. I’ve personally liked it styled several different ways, including mom jeans, a suede skirt (like this) or black skinnies. At first I wasn’t sure because the jacket is almost as long as the skirt, but it compliments the oversized look of the jacket. Since the jacket is on the larger size, it’s important to cinch the waist to show off some sort of shape. I also really like this look with skinny jeans and a tank tucked in – especially if the rest of the outfit is monochrome, like black.
Suede is also trending, as it usually is in Fall, and how cute are these boots?! I thought they were the perfect choice to tie in the suede of the skirt and tweed of the jacket, and the neutral colors I have going on. Some sort of heel was necessary for me since I’m short and the jacket would have looked too big with flats. Kinda like a little girl dressing up in her dad’s clothes….? Not what I was going for. A heeled bootie def helped.
