Hey y’all! Thanks for the comments regarding business casual attire on this post. I’m so freaking excited about all the business casual content I have coming your way! I used to work as a CPA and can remember the struggle of finding inspiration online (let alone figuring out what to wear to an interview UGH), and I’m really hoping to be that source for you guys.

For starters, I want to show off this outfit and talk about trends and how to incorporate them into the office. How to dress business casual can be tricky, and showcasing your personal style while looking appropriate can get kinda stressful. But the beauty of the times right now is that MOST fields have gotten more lenient in terms of dressing for the job. As women, we don’t all have to show up in the horrendous 80s-style pant suits to look like a professional woman! There are tons of ways to switch up your business casual chicness and work with the trends you’re loving!

Take this outfit for example. The pleated skirt look is a FAVORITE of mine, and it doesn’t need to be reserved for bridal showers or flirty dates. Matching it with a clean collared shirt and classic pumps makes this 100% suitable for business meetings, conferences, a day at the office, etc. Plus, it can seamlessly be styled into post-work drinks AND not lose my personal style.

This look is all about balance while incorporating a piece I love (the skirt). Since the skirt is somewhat trendy and not a classic business piece, I made sure to off-set the flow and loose structure of the skirt with a tailored top. Tucking it in not only shows off my waist (definitely more flattering), but it also makes the look way more put together. (P.S. I think un-tucking this top and tying it in a knot below my belly button would be a super cute look for those drinks I mentioned.) Just make sure that a skirt is an acceptable length. Don’t forget that you’ll have to sit down at some point, so choosing skirts that hit right above the knee is as short as I’d go.

Adding a statement necklace on top also streamlines the look (mixing business + cute trends from top to bottom), so don’t be afraid of a little jewelry! Shoe wise, I kept my toes covered since that’s more appropriate, but you’ll see that I’m still getting away with totally cute (and somewhat sexy) heels! You don’t have to look/feel frumpy just because you have to dress a certain way!
