I’ve never really been one to worry about my eyes or glasses or anything else to that matter because I’ve always been able to see just fine. You know? And I could always pass the eye exams for physicals AND/or when taking the driving test (which now I know aren’t actual eye exams – ha). Sometimes my eyes get tired at night and I can’t really read road signs that are super far away, but that’s normal right? Or so I thought.
Whatever the case, I’ve always figured I had some degree of less-than-perfect eye sight, but I never really did anything about it because I felt more than capable of getting by with the way things were. And to be completely honest with y’all, I’d never had a formal eye exam. In fact, I’d never even gotten my eyes checked aside from the dinky tests they make you take when you’re getting a new license. I know, that’s so bad!
I’d never really had to think about (slash deal with) it, and I didn’t think I had any majorly concerning issues with my sight. But boy am I glad that I decided to work with LensCrafters on this campaign because if it wasn’t for them, I don’t think I would have ever forced myself to get them checked (FACT). I learned so much and was my mind was literally BLOWN when I got the news back about how not-perfect my eyes actually were. In fact, I’m still trying to digest it all because I’ve got to make some lifestyle changes – well only one change actually – like wearing glasses every single day!
Even though I thought I could see just fine, the doctor disagreed. She said that I was just used to seeing things that way but that I really wasn’t actually “seeing” things well (ha). When I said “I can see just fine,” she said, “actually, no, you can’t – you’re just used to seeing things blurry”. And to that, I sat down and listened to what she had to say.
So apparently my left eye has gotten weak (or lazy) because my right eye has been overcompensating and carrying all the weight for the past 10 or so years. She said that I should have gotten glasses SEVERAL years ago (again, I was shocked!). And another thing I didn’t realize is that if you need glasses and aren’t wearing them (like me!), you’re actually hurting yourself (or really your eye sight) by not wearing them. I literally had ZERO idea about this. So again, I was thrilled I was getting my eyes checked and nipping this in the bud now before they got even worse!
All that to say, I’m beyond thrilled to be partnering with LensCrafters to announce/celebrate their new store opening in Macy’s at Northpark Center. So not only can you go and get your eyes checked with a legit doctor, but you’ll be able to pick out glasses from some of the most on-trend brands on the market.
My glasses are the actual Ray-Ban aviators – I was deciding between these and another pair by Prada (but they’ve got so many more brands too to choose from!).
Each store is staffed by a LensCrafters (affiliated) optometrist and offers the industry’s best, most advanced eye care equipment. At the store, you have access to the broadest assortment of premium frames, along with a unique in-store digital experience that includes lens simulators and virtual try-on technology.
I was able to try on a few frames after taking a selfie to see which ones fit my face best! At first, I was choosing between the bigger-sized aviators and after using this technology I was able to see that the smaller frames would fit my face better.
Another thing that I thought was SO COOl is that they’ve got this new technology (which I TOTALLY got with my glasses) called the “Blue IQ Clear lenses” that are made specifically for people who have a lot of exposure to blue light from daily use of digital devices (aka COMPUTERS and CELL PHONES!). When I heard this, I was like…”umm YES please SIGN ME UP.” Basically, the lenses reduce exposure to blue light without any visible tint in the lens (which is the cool part!), allowing for extra protection while looking amazing at the same time!
If you live in Dallas, you should definitely check LensCrafters at Macy’s out and make an appointment – even if you think you’re seeing things JUST FINE (like me!). It won’t hurt to get an actual (legit) exam just to know or check up on how your eyes are doing. I promise, it’s worth it!
What about you? Do you have to wear glasses? How was your experience getting glasses and am I the only one that was clueless as to how not-great my eyesight was (ha!).
