Transitional Fall Outfits: How To Style 3 Washes of Denim Two Ways

I’m a denim girl, y’all probably know this by now, but it’s what you’ll find me in 90% of the time. So it’s safe to say I’ve done my share of shopping for jeans in the past, and lemme tell you, it’s not as easy as it seems. Y’all probably know this too – it’s honestly hard to find the perfect pair! And when you do, you want to buy 10 of them and basically wear them for life, right? At least that’s what I do!

One of the brands that I invest in over and over is Ralph Lauren. In general, I’ve been obsessed with the brand since forever but over the past few years, I’ve come to realize how GOOD their denim is! It’s comfy, classic but always on-trend, and I looove how they fit! Personally, I’m most obsessed with their skinny black jeans, dark denim and obviously white (a RL staple!).

I thought it’d be fun to show y’all how to style each wash 2 different ways so you can literally see how versatile these 3 pairs are – and basically why you need them in your closet.

I tried to do some fall and some transitional looks since I’m pretty sure we’re all shopping for fall at this point! PS head over to my Instagram for a fun IGTV where you can see how each of these looks came to life! But for now, I’ll link all the looks below!

Wash 1: BLACK JEANS

Black skinny jeans have been a staple in my closet for years! They’re probably the most versatile pair of jeans in my opinion. Since they’re a little dressier, you can get away with wearing them for work things (at least some jobs!) and it’s always my go-to when running to a meeting. I loooove black paired with brown (my fave color combo for fall) so I chose a RL blazer that’s all kinds of chic and classic. And I can’t tell you how much wear I get out of this black cami because I can style it on its own, under blazers, cardigans, etc!  An all-black base of jeans and a silky camisole allows you so much room for creativity in your layering pieces & accessories. I chose this brown blazer for a work/business meeting look and threw a button-up over the cami for a weekend/errands outfit!

Look One:
Black Skinny Jeans // Herringbone Blazer // Black Camisole // Pumps

Black jeans can also be dressed up or down for your personal life. I love them for date night with this black cami on its own or with a chambray or cardigan and sneakers for weekending.

Look Two:
Black Skinny Jeans // Black Camisole // Chambray Top // Sneakers

Wash 2: DARK BLUE JEANS

I’ve always thought dark blue denim is the most flattering wash (after black). It’s slimming and always in style and Ralph Lauren makes such an amazing pair here. You can easily cuff them or roll them under if you need to or to fit the vibe you’re going for. I loved going for a classic-casual vibe in the first look with a layered sweater & button up combo!

Look One:
Dark Blue Skinny Jeans // Blue Sweater // White Collared Shirt // Mules

The second look I styled is a bit more dressed up with the blazer and loafers. Cute for a coffee date or casual Friday.

Look Two:
Dark Blue Skinny Jeans // Herringbone Blazer // Loafers // Crossbody Bag

Wash 3: WHITE JEANS

You’d be surprised how much wear I get out of these white jeans (or maybe you’re the same?). I love them during summer obviously but also think they are so classic for fall – they go well with browns, tans, plaid and lots of fall shades in general. I wanted to show y’all how you can take your own white jeans from summer to fall with these two looks! BTW, I LOVE the rise on these high-waisted white jeans! Super flattering! I went for a super preppy vibe in the first look with the blue sweater tied over my shoulders which I hadn’t done in a while and forgot how much I like this look.

Look One:
White Skinny Jeans // Blue Sweater // Brown Belt // Loafers

Then this is a perfect outfit for the weather right now! Super casual and a good transitional look, right?
