Ever heard of a bliss list? It’s kind of a new concept to me, but I think it makes total sense. Basically, for me at least, the idea is to have a go-to list of things you KNOW will make you happy. This way, when you’re feeling overwhelmed or life is crazy (AKA Covid!), you have some solid ideas on how to “bliss out”. I don’t know about you but I think this sounds freaking amazing. Right?! Here’s everything I have on mine so far but I plan to keep adding to it as I discover/learn new things that make me happy.
Quiet time/Time offline
I’ve always valued quiet time so I knew when creating my bliss list it was going to be right at the top. Having time to sit quietly, drink coffee and study the Bible is one of my absolute favorite things to do. It sort of removes me from any work/life stress and lets me focus solely on Him.
Also, just time offline in general is where my cup is filled most these days. I’ve fallen down the comparison rabbit hole a bit too much on Instagram recently and taking a step back and living in reality and not in a curated, perfect version of other people’s lives is much healthier more me.
An intentional space
This is something that has given me SO MUCH JOY the last six months or so. First, I discovered essential oils and the peace of mind that comes with them. Incorporating them into my daily life has honestly transformed me. I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s true. It’s 100% something I now look to when I need a pick-me-up.
Second, our Denver house has been a work in progress for about a year now and taking our time with it and being super intentional about it was one of the best decisions we could have made. I feel so much more calm being in a space where everything – even down to the coffee table books – was picked out with purpose and intention. The entire house has a consistent vibe and style and taking the time to get everything right was so, so worth it. It leaves me feeling at peace versus constantly wanting to change things up.
Walks
Walks are my OG when it comes to finding a quick way to chill out. I honestly think it has a lot to do with physically leaving the house. Anyone else feel like actually leaving the space where you’re experiencing stress always does the trick? I know I just got done saying my house gives me joy and it does, but when you work from, as a lot of you have probably discovered, it can be tough to separate work and life. This is why I like to walk after I finish up my workday. Because then when I come home I feel like I’ve been able to switch mindsets and feel happy/excited for more personal time.
Family time
If Covid has taught me anything, it’s how much I value my friends and close family and not to take any of those relationships for granted. 2020 has looked a lot different than I planned (as I’m sure it has for y’all too) and not being able to spend as much time with my family or have as much access to them has really given me a renewed sense of appreciation for them. So these days when I need something that makes me instantly happy I facetime my mama ASAP!
Creating with Duncan
This is oddly something I discovered during Covid and when the Black Lives Matter Movement took center stage back in June. From an IG perspective, Duncan is so articulate and well-spoken – things I could definitely get better at. When we get to share in a project together or speak from the heart to y’all, it just really makes me happy.
I also love creating non-work/offline things with him too like cooking and trying all his crazy coffee blends. He always makes the best playlists to jam out to in the kitchen and just brings the FUN to any ordinary situation. TBH, any moment spent with him is usually pretty blissful LOL. But my takeaway here for you guys is to have someone in your life that makes you feel this way, whether it’s a friend, a partner – whatever! Just have someone who can help you find the calm in the storm when you need it most!
Are y’all convinced on the bliss list? I challenge you to give it a go! What do you have to lose?!
Outfit Details
I don’t know about ya’ll, but I’m getting so excited for Fall clothing! I matched this denim skirt from Nordstrom with one of my favorite Madewell crew neck t-shirts for a cute neutral look as we make the transition into Fall.
