Where You go, I’ll go. Where You stay, I’ll stay. When You move, I’ll move. I will follow You. Who You love, I’ll love. How You serve I’ll serve.
If this life I lose, I will follow You.
Light unto the world, Light unto my life, I will live for You alone
You’re the one I seek, Knowing I will find all I need in You alone
lyrics from Christ Tomlin’s ‘I Will Follow You’
I was listening to the radio the other day and heard this song by Chris Tomlin and it just made me think – wow, those are powerful words. Words that are pretty easy to say but much harder to actually live by. It made me think about what those words actually mean…and challenged me to think long and hard about the weight of it all. I think so much of our “walk” in faith has to do with listening to (and actively seeking) the Holy Spirit – and especially when we don’t want to hear it.
In my experience, it’s often the softest of whispers that tell the hardest of truths. And if we aren’t determined to follow in the all-or-nothing-way that Tomlin sings about, we might just miss that little shed of light (because we stubbornly want to pave our own path) and end up “staying” when we should be “going.”
PS: I want to be more intentional about writing about my Faith. I talk about it a lot on my instagram, but I hardly ever mention it on my blog. So for those of you who have no interest, just keep scrolling.
But for the rest….I’d love to hear from you in the comments/via email/twitter/etc.
