If you’ve been following along on Instagram then you already know we’ve been doing Weekly Outfit Ideas for a few months now. And I have to admit, it’s probably one of my absolute FAVORITE things I’ve implemented and actually stuck with. I have so much fun putting these looks together for y’all each week and I KNOW (based on your DMs and emails) that y’all have found it to be helpful as well. All your positive feedback only motivates me more and excites me each week as I sit down to start putting it together.
A few weeks ago I asked y’all for some “themes” that you’d like to see for the weekly outfit ideas. I complied that list and have been using those ideas for the past few weeks. Today we’re doing outfits with tennis shoes and after polling you earlier this week, it seems that the majority of you are interested in this theme. So let’s get into it!
When it comes to putting together an outfit with sneakers, my first thought is that I want/need it to be flattering. I’m someone who usually feels most comfortable either barefoot or in a little heel because I’ve got short legs. That being said, I’m always looking for little hack to make my legs look longer. Over the years, I’ve figured out what works for me and what does NOT. I’ll share a few of those tips below.
Pair Sneakers with Denim
First things first, with tennis shoes, you’ve GOT to show some ankle! Whether you’re wearing jeans or your favorite pair of leggings, be sure to roll them up so that you have a little bit of space between the hem of your pants and the top of your shoe. This will elongate your legs – TRUST ME on this one! I’ve always got some sort of cuff going on (either by tucking it under, which is what I usually do with leggings) or tucking it over (or on the outside, which is what I do with my denim).

Pair Sneakers with a Casual Dress
I feel like just about anything works when pairing sneakers with a dress – especially if it’s a short dress! Things get a little tricky when you try pairing sneakers with a midi-length dress. I tried to put together a look for y’all with a longer dress, but to be honest it just didn’t look right on me. I feel like maybe you have to be taller to pull that off? Or maybe I just didn’t have the right dress for it! Either way, I love wearing sneakers with a mini dress in Spring and Summer – especially if I’m going to be doing a lot of walking!
Outfit Details: Striped Dress (wearing size Reg. Small and I’m 5′ 4″ for reference) – currently on sale for $44! // Frye Sneakers
Outfit Details: Chambray dress ($55 – wearing size XS, I’m 5′ 4″ for reference) // white denim jacket // Grey and pink Adidas sneakers // Pink crossbody bag

Leggings & Sneakers
But really though, could there ever be a more comfortable outfit than leggings and sneakers?! It’s the best! When pairing leggings and sneakers you could go for either a dressed up athleisure look or an after-the-gym-type of look (that’s more fitness-y if you know what I mean?).

I personally love love love this combo! And find myself resorting to it ALL the time – especially when I know I’m going to be doing a lot of walking around, but still want to look cute and put together!

Pair Sneakers with Comfy Everyday Joggers
I’ll admit, I think this look is difficult to pull off for short girls. Or maybe it’s just me? Something about it is tricky! BUT LET ME TELL YOU, I found 2 pairs of joggers recently that have made it EASY. The trick for pairing joggers and sneakers is that you HAVE to show some of your ankle – something about doing this is more flattering. So the joggers have to fit you just right and hit your ankle at the right spot. See two looks below I’ve put together recently with two pairs of joggers I absolutely love!
Outfit Details: Olive Green Linen Joggers (wearing size Regular XS, fit TTS) // J.Crew graphic tee (old – but they have some super cute ones this season!) // Cropped denim jacket (old – similar here) // New Balance sneakers (old – similar here)
I tried on a few different sneakers with these joggers and I found that these looked the best! The converse didn’t look too bad, but I wanted something a little more sporty. These New Balance are super old, but I linked a similar pair above if you’re interested. And for my second look with bloggers, I wanted to do something even more sporty so I decided I’d style the black Nike sneakers! These joggers below are my absolute FAVORITE. I cannot recommend them enough!
Outfit Details: Black joggers (wearing size XS, fit is TTS) // Bobeau knot sleeve tee (wearing size XS – not available online YET) // Nike Sneakers (fit TTS)
