Happy New Year, y’all! It feels so good to be back in the groove of things after the holidays. I totally geek out over the beginning of the year — I just love making goals for the year ahead and planning out all of our trips, big events, etc. It feels like we all get a fresh slate, and the opportunities are endless!
This year, I spent some time taking a much-needed trip to San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara to wrap up this crazy year. I spent one night over dinner just talking about our intentions for 2022 and planning a few incredible trips. It got me so excited to kick things off and started me thinking about my word of the year for 2022: Intention.
The definition of intention is “a thing intended; an aim or plan.” Simply put, my goal for 2022 is to live with purpose. How will this look in my day-to-day life?
I want to focus on the things or people in front of me. For example, when I’m working, I want to be focused on the task at hand and minimize distractions (I’ve been working with a time management specialist that has helped me immensely with this… more on that in a post to come!).
When I’m not working, I want to give my full attention to Four when I can. I know this season of life will be so fleeting, and when I look back on these precious moments, I want to feel like I spent them in the moment and not scrolling on my phone or distracted and half working on another project.
As I mentioned, we plan to take a few trips this year. My goal for each trip is different, but I hope to be fully present and purposeful for each — whether the intention is to rest and relax or to create sweet memories with Four.
I’m also excited to see how this word can be applied to my hair care line, Agenda. We’ve been so intentional thus far in perfecting our products before we launched and creating a routine that is simple and purposeful. We simplified the hair care process and got to the root of the matter. I’m hoping to continue with this mindset and see how it helps Agenda thrive and grow in 2022!
If you haven’t come up with a word of the year for yourself yet, I highly encourage you to do so. I find myself referencing back to my word throughout the year every single year, and I notice that it helps me when I’ve got big decisions to make.
A great place to start if you’re feeling overwhelmed is by doing a self-assessment of 2021 and taking a deep look at what you want to achieve (personally, professionally, etc.) in 2022. Let me know in the comments what your word of the year is!
