Today I want to talk about how to wear a kimono and my love for kimonos in general. They might be one of my favorite spring accents to date because they do SO MUCH for an outfit and can easily be dressed up or down. With cool spring nights still in tact and music festival season on the horizon, kimonos as cardigans aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

How To Wear A Kimono With Jeans

In this outfit I wore it with a simple black tank and jeans for everyday wear but this could easily be worn at night time as well. I love the fact that the kimono completes an otherwise basic outfit with a black tank and jeans by adding personality to it. And lastly, the layered necklaces, wedges and neutral hand bag pull it all together by dressing it just a bit.

I could also see myself wearing it with a black swing dress and a statement necklace as well. And in this case, I don’t think the kimono wouldn’t necessarily be the highlight of the outfit but would rather act as more of an accessory.

How to Wear A Kimono With Cut Off Jean Shorts

I also think this one would be SO CUTE with jean shorts and booties or or cowgirl boots for music festivals or even with keds to run around town.

Actually, I quickly ran out last night and got this photo in the same kimono so I could show you what it looks like with jean shorts – isn’t it a super cute look?! (sorry this photo is pretty lame…the sun was pretty much gone!) I would be sure it pair it with a super simple camisole that’s preferably solid so the kimono compliments and is the focus of the outfit. Anyway, I love how the kimono adds length to the outfit so the shorts don’t feel as short if you know what I mean?

What do you think – would you wear one with shorts?

Wear It as a Swim Cover Up

When you click on the product link, you’ll see that it’s actually a swimsuit coverup on the model, which is also a great alternative way to wear kimonos. Although hit’s advertised as a coverup, I knew I had so many other ways to wear it from the moment I laid my eyes on it 🙂

How would you wear it?
