How to Dress Up a T Shirt

Dressing up an everyday t shirt is one of my favorite stye challenges of all time. The only catch is that you’ve got to have some decent-looking t shirts that are a step above your typical Hanes v-neck tee from Walmart – although these too can be styled to look cute and put-together! And the good news is that you don’t have to break the bank to find a good-looking t shirt – I found this one at Nordstrom for $32 and love it. The photos make it look like it’s a little bit sheer, but I think that’s the lighting? And plus, I probably should have worn a darker bra with this shirt anyway.

I love the juxtaposition of pairing a casual t shirt with skinny jeans and pointed toe heels. The contrasting styles create an effortlessly chic vibe that comes across as stylish and put-together yet still maintains the carefree and I-didn’t-try-very-hard look (which is key!). And in this instance, I tied my color pop heels in with a matching earring – although you could just wear basic gold jewelry and you’d look just as cute.

And lastly, adding a front tuck with your t-shirt adds a finishing touch that pulls together the look by accentuating your waist and helps tidy up your outfit.
