Crock Pot Chili

I told y’all on Sunday that if this chili turned out good, I’d share the recipe! Well, it’s amazing so I wanted to add the recipe on here for y’all. I’ve adapted this over the years and it’s not really an exact formula – I eyeball most of it! But this should at least get you started!

It’s perfect for cold winter days and I love making a big batch of it for me to eat for lunch throughout the week too! I’d love to know how y’all make your chili!

Also, please forgive this terrible photo. I’ve never really been good at taking photos of food, but I guess I’ll have to learn! I’ve really enjoyed the little cooking that I have done in the past few months and I’m looking forward to learning more and getting more comfortable in the kitchen!

Chili recipe

Ingredients:

1 package ground beef (I usually get 80/20)
1 package Jimmy Dean hot Italian sausage
2-3 cans Rotel tomatoes
1 can kidney beans
1 can black beans
1 red onion, diced
3 cloves minced garlic
1 Chili packet
Salt and pepper
Shredded cheese (optional)
Avocado (optional)

Directions:

Step 1: You’ll need 2 pans

  • Sauté ground beef and sausage until browned and then drain the fat
  • in separate pan, saute onion and minced garlic

Step 2: You’ll need your crock pot

  • add meat and onions into the crock pot
  • then add the cans of Rotel tomatoes, kindey beans, black beans
  • add chili spice packet, salt & pepper

Step 3: Cook on low for 2-3 hours (the longer the better)

Step 4: Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream, and/or avocado to taste!
