Can You Wear White After Labor Day?
I love a good white after labor day outfit. One of my frequently asked questions via email (especially recently) is “Can you wear white after labor day?” And I’m always always eager and excited to answer with a solid, clear YES MA’AM! Like I’ve said before (many-a-time), OF COURSE you can wear white after labor day, friends. In fact, it’s SO stinkin’ chic to do so. And not only just after labor day, but into the frost-bitten winter months too! I love white jeans year round!
If you’re thinking, “wait, I’ve already heard Brighton talk about this…“, it’s because you have! To refresh my new friends, I actually wrote a BIG comprehensive (round up) post ALL about wearing white after labor day a few weeks ago (you should check it out if you haven’t already!). I had a lot of fun putting that post together and in doing so, I was inspired to put together more after-labor-day white jean outfits. Plus, I just love the look of white jeans with Fall textures and hues.
This Taupe & Plaid Combo is Life
I love this look because it showcases one of my absolute favorite ways to wear white jeans during the months of October to March-ish, which is with a tone-on-tone, solely neutral color scheme. I love finding knits (especially tunic sweaters like this one!) that pair well with certain plaids or other similar neutrals (like this scarf + this cashmere one has been my wish list for months!).
When wearing a tone-on-tone look like this, I’ve found that all the neutrals and “flat” (for lack of better words), solid colors typically tend to call for either some texture (which I brought in with the handbag and the ribbed knit) or some sort of print (which I added with the scarf) in order to pull it all together. It’s possible to do an entire tone-on-tone look with ONLY solid colors, but in my experience, it’s been difficult to do well and still have that pulled-together slashed finished touch to it. Know what I mean?
On another note, I JUST arrived at the Ritz Carlton in Lake Tahoe and I’m SO excited to spend the week here exploring and soaking up the crisp air, Fall breeze and everything this amazing area of the planet has to offer! If you’ve got any recommendations, I’d love to hear from y’all!
