Is everyone surviving daylight savings so far? It’s pretty brutal the first few days, but y’all, aren’t the early evenings amazing? I don’t know if I’m just over cold weather by this time of year (and yes, I realize Dallas is not technically “cold weather” but it is to me), but I’m ecstatic! I’m so ready for all things spring…including new clothes obviously.
Business Casual For Spring: How to Incorporate Spring Into Your Work Attire
As I’m trying to do more office wear content for you guys, I thought I’d channel some of my love and enthusiasm for Spring and putting together Spring-inspired outfits into some looks for the office. I’ve been getting a lot of feedback on all of this professional wear content (like here and here), so I’m glad y’all are getting use out of it! I obviously don’t have a real office to go to each day, but I can absolutely put together something really cute that would work. Slash is it weird that sometimes I wish I could go into an office just to put professional looks together? I definitely miss the challenge of putting together an office-worthy look each day – not gonna lie!
Polish with a twist
While looking profesh in your work environment is an obvious goal, the arrival of warmer weather means that you can add a little flare where you usually wouldn’t in the winter months. For example, pair tailored pants (love the J.Crew pixie pant or the ones I’m wearing) OR a chic pencil skirt with a cropped jacket in an unexpected hue! It’s much easier to pull off a blush pink, tweed in the spring, so why not go for it?? Use the spring weather to your advantage and lighten things up!
Monochrome among materials
Pastels, which are perfect for Spring, are also great in any style. Mix and match materials such as silk, leather, knit, and tweed and tie it all together with color. I love the look of this blush pink Chloe bag (which I personally think is an IDEAL color – an understated and unexpected pop), with the same colored jacket to add texture and some coordination to your outfit. This is also a way to bring in some femininity, especially if you work in a male-heavy industry. Professional but cute and girly right?
Speaking of the subtle pop of a blush pink bag, here are a few cute options I’ve found (hover over to see price!):
The open-toed mule
If you ask me, mules are the ideal shoe for the transition between Winter and spring: more coverage than strappy sandals while also being totally more breathable vs. booties. They can be worn on both cooler and warmer spring days – making them a must have for your Spring wardrobe! Not to mention, they transition from day to night flawlessly. They are everywhere this season, and I love that they’re appropriate for the office or for fun. I’m wearing some of my favorite mules (such a great color and SO comfortable for ALL day wear!) from my mom’s Spring 2017 collection – have you checked out her newest Spring arrivals yet?! It’s AMAZING. She continues to blow me away with her talent and creativity; she’s such a rockstar!
Cropped pants
Give your ankles some love this spring since they’ve been covered by boots and socks and jeans for too long! Mine are ready for some sunshine (or sunless color too? ha!), let me tell y’all. Cropped pants are another perfect seasonal-transition item, and will give your outfits a fresh new look for the coming months. They are totally perfect for the (business casual) work place – they go well with tons of office outfit options, and are 100% a staple for all different fields. Plus, they make it easier to show off your cute, new Spring shoes!
Speaking of cropped work pants, I talked about it a little bit in my last work wear post, but some of my favorite black (skinny) pants are the J. Crew pixie pant ($98 – fit TTS), Banana Republic Sloan-fit pant (worn in this post), and of I think the BEST (and most flattering because they’re high-waisted) are these Rag & Bone ones I’m wearing in this post (but I realize $298 is quite the investment so I included the other options for y’all!) Oh, I’ve also had some luck with GAP’s Bi-stretch skinny pant which are under $70!
What do y’all think?!
Do you like this outfit I put together? Whose office can I come hang in? But for real, it’s pretty cute for drinks too right?
