When it comes to spring and warmer temps, I typically reach for the floral prints and brighter colors. I recently shared 5 dresses I’m loving for spring and each one was super colorful. But there are times you just need to wear a black dress — and I found a few that are perfect for spring.

Whenever I’m considering a black dress this time of year, there are a few things I always try to keep in mind. First, I make sure the material is light, light, light. A lot of black dresses are made using heavier materials and can not only get hot in the spring temps, but also look like they belong in the cold-weather months. I love that this black midi dress from Anthropologie is made from a soft cotton blend so it feels totally light and airy.

I also think about how I will accessorize the dress. With this look, I paired the black dress with a fun raffia belt which made it feel way more casual and spring-like. You could also incorporate some brighter hues through fun earrings and bracelets or even a bag with a pop of color.
