I’m getting really into all things tables lately. And truthfully, I’ve never really put together a table before this one. My mom has always been really into china and has a massive collection, so I’m surprised it’s just peaking my interest. But whatever the case, I’m excited about it and am marking 2021 as the year I start my “table” collection.
Did you catch the blog post last month where I rounded up some inspiration for fall table styling? Since then I have been playing with my own table (this took way longer than I care to admit) and came up with two concepts I’m excited to share – it made sense to split it up into two posts.
When looking through inspo, I saw a lot of orange and traditional fall colors, which I loved but after seeing these feather placemats, I decided to do an entire setting centered around them. I would have never guessed that I would be into the feathers but I am obsessed. I already owned the black and white plates and they brought out the different tones of taupe beautifully.
The hardest part of pulling this table together was the centerpiece. I knew I wanted to use these pumpkins because what fall table doesn’t have pumpkins? I knew I wanted to do something dried and an arrangement that incorporated the same taupe color story as the placemats, but I couldn’t figure out how to tie it all together. I actually ordered several different options and none of them worked. Last minute, I ended up going to a local florist (Dr. Delphinium) and picked up a few of their dried flowers, which ended up working out beautifully!
The taupe candles were also a last minute addition that *really* pulled everything together. I started out with white candles and the table looked fine, but I wanted to try a color that better tied in the placemats. I ended up finding these taupe candles and BAM everything finally started coming together the way I wanted. The final touches included some gold accents like the silverware and the candleholders (because y’all know I can’t resist a touch of gold).
