One of my core memories growing up is enjoying breakfast with my family on Christmas morning. My mom would always go all out with lots of delicious pastries and breakfast casseroles. We’d play with our new toys and basically graze on food for the entire morning while staying in our pajamas. Honestly, it was heaven! So, I figured it would be helpful to share some Christmas morning breakfast ideas that are both kid-friendly and parent approved.
I wrote a blog post a couple of years ago with some Christmas morning breakfast ideas, but now that both of my kids are eating solids (and Blake is a bit picky), I need to be more strategic with what I offer. 😉 So, I decided to write another post featuring breakfast ideas my kids will actually eat. All of these would be welcomed in our house, I’m sure of it. I hope you can enjoy at least one of them in your own home!
Gooey Monkey Bread
Look, let’s be honest. This is basically just eating dessert for breakfast. But if there’s any day you can justify this, it’s on Christmas Day! Monkey bread is one of my favorite holiday treats. The brioche dough is so buttery and delicious. Plus, you can truly snack on this for several days. I would serve this with some eggs and bacon too so my kids get at least a little protein!
Egg & Potato Breakfast Casserole
I did my best to start serving my kids eggs from a super young age to give them the best chance at actually eating them as they get older and so far it’s worked. 😉 I’ve made recipes super similar to this for breakfast in the past and my kids devoured it! You can mix and match your own ingredients too, like different veggies or breakfast meats.
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
Nothing says Christmas morning quite like ooey gooey cinnamon rolls. Whether you grab some easy bake options at the store or make some from scratch using this recipe, I guarantee everyone in your family will be thrilled. I am hoping to find myself sipping a warm (reheated if we’re being honest) cup of coffee and eating a cinnamon roll while my kids play with their toys this year.
Sweet Potato Waffles
When it comes to making a breakfast your kids will actually eat, waffles never disappoint. I love the idea of making sweet potato waffles. Not only does it change up the flavor some, but there’s some added nutrition for the kids too! And, I like that there are some savory options for these too if you don’t want a sweet breakfast.
Bacon, Egg & Cheese Quiche
A good quiche for breakfast is one of my favorites. The flakiness of the crust, the fluffiness of the egg filling. It’s honestly all amazing. I’ve never actually made a quiche at home before, but I’m thinking maybe this is the year I try? I do think my kids would enjoy it. Maybe I’ll make one with a side of cinnamon rolls to be safe.
