“Be joyful always;
pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
As we get older, our lives become more complicated. Our innocence and naiveté slowly wither away as we take on the responsibilities, pressures, and problems of the world around us. And although this transformation is inevitable, we shouldn’t lose sight of the pure and sweet joy that comes from a simple life…of slowing down, being grateful, and remaining joyful despite all.
I encourage you to remember how powerful and liberating it feels to be “child like” – to drop all pride, sophistication, barriers, status, complications and everything else.
Personally, this is especially relevant in my prayer life. Sometimes I put unnecessary pressures on myself to do things a “certain” way, but all that really matters is that I’m honest, true, and sincere. And that I’m making an effort. God knows our hearts. He doesn’t keep score and he doesn’t judge our handwriting. He doesn’t critique the wording or eloquence of our prayers, nor the nature of our requests and desires. He simply loves us and wants to be there for us – No matter what.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! and a Happy New Year!!
