Thanks so much to Colgate Optic White for sponsoring this blog post. As always, all opinions are my own.
Teeth and smiles are always one of those things I instantly notice on people – well that and hair. I’m pretty obsessive about keeping mine healthy and clean – my dentist should be proud! I’m always into finding ways to keep them white and bright without heavy procedures or anything too expensive. There are certain little tweaks I concentrate on to accomplish a white as possible – but still natural – look, so I wanted to share! I figure white teeth is a universal thing we all want to feel confident about, right Here’s what I focus on and 5 tips for YOU to get AND maintain a bright and white smile:
1. Brush Your Teeth Twice A Day
It may sound a bit silly and repetitive to remind you to brush your teeth twice a day, but this is honestly the easiest thing you can do to make sure you are maintaining a white smile. Brushing once in the morning and once at night is a great way to keep your teeth healthy and bright all year long.
2. Use Colgate Optic White
If you’re not a fan of whitening packages at the dentist, consider using an at-home whitening kit. I like to use the Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Whitening Pen. This toothbrush is not only an effective brush to clean your teeth daily but it also has a whitening pen attached on the end, making teeth-whitening seamless with your daily brushing routine! If you’re like me and remembering to brush your teeth in the morning is a chore in and of itself, this handy attachment will be your new bestie! Also, it’s not super intense so it doesn’t leave my teeth feeling too sensitive.
3. Eat More Strawberries
Adding more strawberries into your diet is another great way to keep your pearly whites shining all year long. It’s recently been discovered that strawberries contain malic acid which help with discoloration of enamel. Not only that, but they also are a natural exfoliant that gently remove tartar from your teeth with every bite!
4. Wear Bold Lipsticks
I love this idea for date night…or any day or night really! If you. want to accentuate your newly whitened and healthy teeth put on a bold lip color and watch your smile really pop! For the holidays I love a deep red or bright pink to really add some color to my outfit. It’s a great way to put focus on your lips and teeth and make you feel confident on any occasion.
5. Stay Away From Drinks That Stain
If you are worried your toothbrush won’t remove all the stains and whitening your teeth is making them a bit sensitive, you might want to take a step back from the coffee (maybe not all of it!) and darker soft drinks! For a few months, try avoiding drinks that will immediately create stains. I’m a huge coffee and tea drinker and I can immediately tell the difference when I avoid darker colored drinks for awhile. Things like coffee, tea, and soda easily stain and wear away the enamel of your teeth making them look dull. Instead try substituting those options for water or clear liquids. Not only will your teeth be whiter, but you will probably feel healthier too!
What about you? Did I miss anything? And have you tried Colgate’s optic white toothbrush and whitening pen?! I’ve been using it for 3 weeks and am loving it so far! I’m typically SUPER sensitive to ANY type of whitening product, but this one has been great for me so far.
