Dee’s Details: A New Series

I want to announce a new little mini series on BrightonTheDay spotlighting my mom’s talent as an interior designer. She thinks of the move innovative and creative ideas and decorates with such attention to detail. I think you will definitely appreciate getting to see different details around the latest house that she decorated (and where my parents still live today). Each post will highlight a different detail (or two)  around the house. I hope you enjoy!

My mom is one of the most talented ladies I have ever met. Actually, probably that I’ve ever heard of…she is quite the Renaissance woman . As most of you know, she is the master mind behind Dee Keller Designs, with one super successful season under her belt and another one coming this fall that is sure to do just as well. Before she decided to get into all this shoe business, she was what some people would call a “super mom.” (after she retired from practicing law!).  In addition to managing all 4 of us, she was also a very talented decorator. She didn’t do much commercial work, but she always decorated our homes and a few of our close friends’.

We moved a lot when I was growing up. We probably moved somewhere close to 13 times. I’m dead serious. My Dad used to do a lot of residential construction work, so we would build a house, my mom would decorate it, and then we would sell and move on to the next. It was actually pretty fun, despite what you might assume. So in addition to designing shoes and managing a growing business, my mom is also a very talented decorator and has an impeccable eye for creating exquisite, unique, and creative interiors. Once my Dad moved onto other things, we finally built a house where we set up camp and stayed there (…and are still there). So, I’ve been nervous to share my late-childhood (high school years) home with you all, but I figured showing a few details wouldn’t hurt. One thing I wanted to show you in particular is how my mom incorporates the fabrics of a room into the furniture.

The first picture is an armoir in my room and the second is from the doors of a closet in my sister’s room.

I also love how she added the personal touch to my sister’s chair – with the cute Navy monogram!
