A Growing Interest

I’ve never been one to be very “into” interior decorating/furniture/rugs/etc., but lately I’ve been loving it more and more. I guess I was just always too busy with school, studying, and other things to care about decorating or other (in my opinion) “grown-up” things.  It didn’t matter to me (meaning, I didn’t appreciate it) because it didn’t apply to me….if that makes sense?  In college, I moved every year and lived somewhere different each summer, so every place I lived was pretty much temporary, and I never really invested much time or effort into making it look pretty.

With my (full time)  job starting in New Orleans this coming January, I’ll need to eventually make the move down I-10 some time in the next six months. This will be my frist move where I will actually move all my things to one place…with one closet and my own house-ware…to stay for a quasi-permanent amount of time. Weird! Since I went away to school, I felt like I was always living with about 1/4 of my things, constantly bringing suitcases and shipping boxes back and forth from home to Austin. Whew! Glad all that is over! Anyway, to my point, I’ve recently been thinking a lot about what I want my future place to look like. So, as you might guess, I’ve been perusing the interwebs for home decor inspiration and, as a result, you will probably be seeing more and more of it on BrightonTheDay. I sure do hope you don’t mind!

All the options and decisions involved with decorating can get a bit overwhelming at times, in my amateur opinion, but I’m happy to say that I do know a few sure things about my taste….I like a simple, crisp, clean, inviting, and comfortable environment. And if I have color, I doubt it will be very much, which is funny considering the way I like to dress! (ha! ironic). I’m sure you’ll be seeing lots of neutrals and whites, with the occasional french blue or yellow, and the main bits of colors will probably be in the accessories. But who knows, I guess we will figure out my sense of home decor style (or whatever it’s called) together.  For now, though, here are a few things that have got to be incorporated into my future new home….

An all white & fluffy bed….

Gold accents….

& White milk glass.
